Broken Arm

		Wounded wing Emily was, in her words, “doing a cannonball off the bed,” shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, when she broke both bones in her right forearm. She had just learned to go off the diving board, and apparently thought she could practice anywhere.     Luckily, Ashley and Garrett stayed with friends and both Lisa and Stan could be with Emily for the five-hour emergency room visit. She did remarkably well, with only short bouts of pain when preparing her arm for the splint she would wear for two days before getting her cast.     Though Big Sister pushed strongly for her to choose the hot-pink cast, Emily finally opted for blue after some indecision around all the other options, including the very enticing glow-in-the-dark model.
